UHL Autoclave Enabling Works

Weltec were appointed as Main Contractor for the UHL Autoclave Enabling Works.

All the external works took place in the Boilerhouse and the Physio roof and all internal works took place in the Autoclave Room (R4314)

Scope

Offsite fabrication of a new plant room and installation on the physio roof at the back of the CSSD building

Installation of a new steam and condensate line from the existing boiler house, to the new plant room and into the autoclave room.

Installation of new steel supports for the pipework and Plantroom.

Installation of new control valves and bypasses in the new plant room.

Installation of lights and sockets to the new plant room.

Installation of handrail around the Physio roof.

Installation of new lights in the autoclave room.

Installation of new steam header and control valves in the Autoclave room.

Installation of bulkhead around the new steam heater and valves.

PSCS roll over this project. 

Note: All works in the Autoclave rooms took place at night.

John Murphy

Quality Director

John is the company Quality Director with overall responsibility for all Quality activities and resources. He is hugely experienced, having worked for many years in the Pharma and Manufacturing before joining Weltec in 2014. He holds qualifications in Chemistry, Quality Assurance, a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and a Masters in Business Administration.  He has been instrumental in the company’s continuous implementation of new and improved quality standards across all engineering and construction activities. He has also been the key driver in ensuring we fully understand our customer expectations and needs and that we have developed and implemented the quality control processes to meet and exceed these expectations.

Joe McGivney

General Manager, Electrical

Joe is a IPMA certified Project Manager and as General Manager Joe takes a key role in project proposals, project development, construction operations, and communication with all key stakeholders. He applies his extensive engineering and project management experience acquired over his 40 year successful career. He has delivered complex projects across many sectors including Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, ICT Manufacturing and Healthcare.

James Hackett

EHS Director

James is EHS Director and holds a BSc in Management and a H-Dip in Health, Safety & Welfare at Work from UCC. Working closely with the operations director, general manager and contract managers, James has full responsibility all EHS activities and resources across the company. James has been instrumental in directing the company to achieving world-class EHS practices, which have been recognised by NISO with the company winning the Bronze Overall Award and twice winning the Presidents Award for Large Organisations over a 4 year period.

Shane Ryan

Operations Director

Shane holds a Bachelors Degree in Engineering from UL and as Operations Director he is centrally involved in the direction and execution of all construction operations. He focuses on assembling multi-disciplinary teams to deliver large-scale complex turnkey projects and creating sustainable ongoing partnerships. He has extensive engineering and project management experience across different sectors including Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, Industrial and Food.

Gerard O’Leary

Managing Director

Gerard is the Managing Director and one of the original founders of Weltec Engineering in Waterford over 20 years ago. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Engineering from CIT and a Masters in Business Administration from UCC. He has 30 years experience in the engineering and construction industries and has been instrumental in the development of the company into a leading engineering and process contractor.
