Annual Sustainable Energy Engineering student awards sponsored by Weltec Engineering.
Students presented their final year dissertations with the hope of being the Weltec Award winner for 2021. Five students from the BEng (Hons) in Sustainable Energy Engineering at WIT presented their final year dissertations virtually to Weltec Engineering on 20th of May 2021, with the aim of winning the annual Weltec award. As expected the standard was very high from all students. Representatives from Weltec decided on the overall winner.
The winning project
The Weltec Award for 2021 went to Grace Roche for her dissertation: “A Comparison of Third Party Building Certification Systems”.
These awards were established to showcase the exceptional work that final year students of the Sustainable Energy Engineering course produce in WIT.
The participants
The other chosen participants completed their presentations under the following titles;
- Post-Occupancy Evaluation of Energy Efficient Retrofitted Dwellings.
- Design Simulation and Appraisal of Borehole Thermal Energy Storage in a Commercial Building with Thermal Energy and Emissions Analysis.
- The Energy Efficient Upgrade of a 19th Century Historic Building.
- Design, Constructing & Testing of a Crossflow Turbine.
WIT and Weltec Engineering
The winners were announced on the day, and 1st place Grace Roche, 2nd place Kevin Fitzgerald, 3rd place Andrew White were issued with relevant certs from Weltec. Weltec acknowledges the efforts of all participants is proud to have established a solid link between themselves and WIT over the years.
